About the Opportunity

Tanager Bank is seeking an experienced BSA/Compliance Officer to lead the Bank's Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and regulatory compliance programs. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a compliance professional who enjoys protecting the integrity of a community bank while partnering with leadership to manage regulatory risk.

As the Bank's designated BSA Officer, you will oversee the Bank's Compliance Management System (CMS), administer BSA/AML compliance programs, support regulatory examinations and audits, and provide guidance to business leaders on evolving banking regulations. This hands-on role blends strategic oversight with day-to-day compliance operations and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing Wyoming community bank.

Position Summary

The BSA/Compliance Officer is responsible for administering and overseeing the Bank's BSA/AML and regulatory compliance programs while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state banking laws and regulations. This position manages risk assessments, suspicious activity monitoring, OFAC compliance, consumer regulatory compliance, policy administration, compliance testing, regulatory reporting, staff training, and examination management. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, foster a strong culture of compliance, and help protect the Bank from regulatory, operational, and financial crime risks.

Key Responsibilities

BSA/AML Compliance

  • Serve as the Bank's designated BSA Officer.
  • Administer and maintain the Bank's BSA/AML, OFAC, CIP, CDD, EDD, and Beneficial Ownership programs.
  • Oversee suspicious activity investigations, SAR filings, CTR reporting, and BSA risk assessments.
  • Manage OFAC sanctions screening and FinCEN information-sharing requests.
  • Monitor financial crime trends and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Administer the Bank's Compliance Management System (CMS).
  • Ensure compliance with Regulations B, E, Z, DD, HMDA, RESPA, CRA, Fair Lending, Flood, UDAAP, and other applicable banking regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate implementation of policy, procedure, and operational updates.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring, testing, policy reviews, and corrective action tracking.
  • Manage the Bank's consumer complaint program and compliance reporting.

Leadership & Risk Management

  • Prepare reports for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate regulatory examinations, independent audits, and remediation activities.
  • Develop and deliver compliance and BSA/AML training programs.
  • Provide compliance guidance to business units and support a strong culture of regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise assigned Compliance/BSA staff, as applicable.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of banking experience, including at least three years in BSA/AML, Regulatory Compliance, Financial Crimes, or Enterprise Risk.
  • Strong knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, AML, and consumer banking regulations.
  • Experience with BSA/AML monitoring systems and core banking platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations, manage multiple priorities, and meet regulatory deadlines.

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a BSA Officer or Compliance Officer within a financial institution.
  • Community bank experience.
  • CAMS, CRCM, CBAP, or comparable banking compliance certification.
  • Experience supporting bank mergers, acquisitions, or system conversions.
