Job Description

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Building Engineer to support the maintenance and operation of a large corporate office campus in Malvern, PA . This role is responsible for maintaining critical building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building automation, and life safety equipment to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient facility operations.

This position is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong HVAC experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable responding to after-hours facility emergencies.

Schedule: Third Shift (Night Shift)

On-Call: Participation in a rotating 24/7 emergency on-call schedule is required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial building systems, including:
    • HVAC equipment
    • Plumbing systems
    • Electrical distribution
    • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
    • Fire and Life Safety systems
    • Interior and exterior lighting
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on building equipment to maximize reliability and extend asset life.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility emergencies during assigned shifts and on-call rotations.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pumps, lighting fixtures, ballasts, plumbing components, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor equipment performance, record operating data, and make system adjustments to optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of projects.
  • Assist with inventory management by maintaining appropriate stock levels of replacement parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials while following all OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support general facility maintenance projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of technical or trade school education in HVAC, refrigeration, electrical systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong commercial HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • EPA Universal (Section 608) Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems and implement effective repairs.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call emergency response rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in large commercial office buildings, corporate campuses, healthcare facilities, or industrial environments.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability practices.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and coordinating contracted maintenance services.
  • Strong inventory and parts management experience.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and environmental health and safety practices.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks in a fast-paced environment.
