About Us

At Olde Mill Lighting, we build custom handcrafted lighting fixtures using traditional metalworking techniques, transforming raw brass and copper into timeless pieces for historic homes, custom residences, churches, and restoration projects across the country. Our small team is committed to exceptional craftsmanship, honest work, and producing heirloom-quality lighting that reflects the pride we take in every fixture we create.

What You'll Do as a Lighting Craftsman

  • Restore and build high-quality custom lighting fixtures by hand using traditional metalworking techniques, precision craftsmanship, and brass and copper fabrication.
  • Solder and braze metal components to create strong, clean, and professionally finished assemblies.
  • Build custom wall lanterns, post lights, pendants, and other fixtures from patterns, drawings, and specifications while preserving period-accurate designs.
  • Apply patinas, lacquers, and specialty finishes that enhance the beauty and durability of every handcrafted fixture.
  • Wire and assemble completed lighting fixtures to ensure safe, reliable electrical performance.
  • Complete custom orders with careful attention to customer specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient workspace while properly caring for shop tools and equipment.
  • Contribute to a team that takes pride in preserving traditional craftsmanship while creating one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures built to last for generations.

Our Ideal Lighting Craftsman

  • Craftsmanship: You take pride in producing clean, high-quality work and appreciate the satisfaction of building something that will last for generations.
  • Self-Motivation: You work well independently, stay productive throughout the day, and take ownership of your work from start to finish.
  • Attention to Detail: You enjoy precision work and understand that the small details make a big difference in the finished product.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: You have experience in sheet metal fabrication, tinsmithing, metalworking, or a related trade—or you're eager to learn a skilled trade through hands-on training. Experience with soldering, brazing, reading production drawings, or electrical fixture assembly is a plus, but not required.
  • Physical Ability: You can comfortably stand, bend, kneel, lift up to 75 pounds, and work safely in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Values: You enjoy working as part of a close-knit team that values honesty, integrity, craftsmanship, continuous learning, and treating people with respect.
