Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

This role involves performing a wide range of mechanical and electrical assembly tasks, including building sealers, heat tunnels, and related sub-assemblies. You will pull stock from the warehouse, assemble devices, perform functional testing, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. You will also support various shop operations such as sawing, punch press, machining, deburring, and metal finishing, moving between subassembly and final assembly departments based on production needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical devices, including sealers, heat tunnels, and related sub-assemblies.
  • Read and interpret process documentation, drawings, prints, diagrams, and schematics to complete assemblies accurately.
  • Pull and stage parts from inventory to support the assembly process.
  • Complete required paperwork such as work orders, forms, and checklists accurately and on time.
  • Test assembled products to verify proper operation and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and correct assembly errors or defects to ensure quality standards.
  • Recommend updates and improvements to assembly procedures and documentation when necessary.
  • Support other shop operations, including sawing, punch press, machining, deburring, and metal finishing, as needed.
  • Work across both subassembly and final assembly departments, building components ranging from laptop-sized parts to large panels and packaging machines.
  • Use hand and power tools such as drills, impact drivers, drill guns, wrenches, and socket wrenches safely and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and participate in cycle counting activities.
  • Train co-workers on assembly processes, tools, and procedures when requested.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and follow all safety practices.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience following assembly instructions in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with hand and power tools, including drills, impact drivers, socket sets, and wrenches.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.
  • Experience using tape measures and working with precise measurements.
  • Ability to perform basic electrical and wiring tasks for assemblies.
  • Capability to test, inspect, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • General production and assembly line experience.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, forms, and checklists.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with packaging equipment or packaging-related assemblies.
  • Experience with electronic and electrical assembly work.
  • Prior exposure to sawing, punch press, machining, deburring, and metal finishing processes.
  • Comfort working with a variety of hand and power tools in a shop environment.
  • Strong mechanical inclination and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience training or mentoring co-workers on assembly processes.

Work Environment

You will work in a brand-new, fully renovated facility that was recently updated to provide a clean, organized, and modern shop environment. The team consists of five assemblers split between subassembly and final assembly, and you may move between departments depending on work orders. You will assemble components ranging from laptop-sized parts up to large panels and packaging machines, using hand and power tools such as drills, impact drivers, drill guns, wrenches, and socket wrenches. The standard schedule is a first-shift role, working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Training is provided over the first one to two weeks, during which you will become familiar with the specific tools, processes, and equipment used in the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Big Lake, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
